Due to the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Common Program Requirements duty hour limitations, residency programs invest considerable resources examining and managing the time residents spend at work.1 Many proponents of the system assume that by reducing time in clinical work, residents may spend more time in activities that mitigate fatigue, stress, and burnout as well as in activities enhancing education. However, reviews of well-being and education following duty hour reforms are inconclusive.
