Emergencies in palliative care

Oncological emergencies are common in patients with advanced cancer and can confer significant physical and psychological burdens. Swift recognition of such events allows rapid contextualized evaluation and management, which may need to be tailored to the individual patient’s circumstances. Wherever possible, the anticipation of a potential emergency allows clinicians to pre-empt potential crises.
