Primary care providers prescribing aspirin for primary prevention need to make individual clinical judgements. To do so requires less heat and more light. The need for less heat derives from the most recent guidelines that recommend aspirin for those 40 to 70 years of age at higher risk of a first cardiovascular event, but not those over 70.1 The need for more light derives from the fact that people over 70 are at higher risks than those under 70.
