High risk of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism in patients with COVID-19

A new review provides an in-depth analysis of the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in patients hospitalized for COVID-19. While hospitalized patients at general wards have a VTE risk of between 5 and 11 percent, the risk of developing deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism in critically ill patients is 18 to 28 percent.
